Konstantin Istomin. An Artist’s Studio

Konstantin Istomin (1887–1942), the author of the famous painting “College Girls” (1933), was a co-founder of the Higher Art and Technical Studios (Vkhutemas) and the Higher Art and Technical Institute (Vkhutein) in the 1920s. He was a member of the famous art associations — “Makovets” and “The Four Arts”. He received his art education in Munich and Moscow.

Istomin remained in the history of national art as the creator of a new interpretation of the traditional “interior” genre and the motif of “An Artist’s Studio.”

There are plans to include into the exhibition about one hundred of Istomin’s painted and graphic works from the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, State Russian Museum, A.A. Deyneka Kursk State Picture Gallery, A.N. Radischev Saratov State Art Museum, private funds and collections.
